Sunshine Mill Winery, The Dalles OR

The Sunshine Mill has a long, colorful history. The Sunshine Mill has milled wheat on this property for more than 130 years, and was the first building in The Dalles to have electricity, powered by a Thomas Edison Motor which can still be seen in The Mill. The Sunshine Mill now houses Quenett and Copa Di Vino wineries owned and operated by James and Molli Martin, both from The Dalles. Enjoy a tasting or have a glass of wine in our amphitheater. Order an Antipasto platter to enjoy in The Boiler House Bar and drink differently at The Sunshine Mill.

In 1996, a small group of friends came together to share their passion for food and pastry from their home country, France. Soon after, they decided to open La Provence Bakery & Bistro, located in Lake Oswego, Oregon. An opportunity arose to expand to The Dalles, and in 2007, Petite Provence of the Gorge was opened for business. As a group of restaurants, they try to keep menus and offerings similar, while still allowing their chefs creative freedom to give each location its own special character.

Freebridge Brewing is the dream of a fifth generation Oregon ranch family – Steve Light and Laurie Petroff-Light. On Laurie’s Matriarchal side, Great Grandma Matilda Hendricks walked into Fort Dalles Oregon as a young girl on the Oregon trail. Most likely over the Freebridge. Today, the Petroff family continues to farm wheat and run cattle in the Fifteen Mile Creek valley.

Laurie and Steve have been an obsessed homebrew team for years and Master Brewer, Mike Boler has an extensive twenty-five years experience in the Brewhouse as a pro. Here is where passion and experience are showcased in every beer that leaves the tanks. Our goal: To bring the people in our community- locals and travelers alike- together over stunning craft beers and artisan food.
