|Experience the ocean's riches in December with one of our favorites:
- Shrimp Louie Salad, including rock shrimp, white shrimp, eggs, olives, celery root, baby butter leaf lettuce and Louie dressing.
- Lemony crab and artichoke risotto, with cream, lemon and tarragon. Sourdough bread.
- Cranberry pudding cake with vanilla bean creme anglais. Coffee.

|Join us for our fourth annual story telling evening with a four course dinner created just for the Balch by Jamie Snell of the Lamb's Table Catering.
This year's storytelling theme is: Stranger in a Strange Land.
- Roasted potato rounds with onion and chorizo
- Mojama and avocado skewers
- Tomato and eggplant crostini
- Jerusalem artichoke soup with bread
- Baby greens with Serrano ham, spiced apricots, red onion, sherry vinaigrette
- Lamb and beef koftas with saffron basmati rice, roasted tomato and garlic yogurt sauce
(Gluten free except for crostini. No vegetarian exception)
- Chocolate orange and amaretto cake.
Top this off with a champagne toast at midnight! Dinner and a show just $57 p.p. +gratuity!
Round out the perfect evening and stay overnight at the Balch. We'll make you breakfast and great coffee on the first day of 2015.

|Ghost towns draw visitors by what they were and by what remains of them today. They are the eerie, silent reminders of the passage of time. Join author and speaker Keith May for a weekend exploring and learning about these fun ghost towns!
|A Sweet Weekend
|Demonstrations, hands-on chocolate making and chocolate tasting will put you in touch with the “food of the gods.”
You will learn how to make the basic chocolates: truffles, mendicants, and dipped caramel, fruits and nuts. Then, you’ll practice your new skills by making your own.
While your chocolates are setting up, you'll learn a method for tasting chocolate, followed by a tasting of several flights of chocolates. The flights will designed to both educate and delight your palate.
Finally, you'll assemble your own boxes of chocolates from the candies produced by the whole class. Take them home and share with family and friends!
Note: definitely hands on - bring an apron (or purchase one from the Balch)
